This beautiful and relatively undeveloped 5,328 acre park in Bend, TX west of Lampasas is a sight to behold. It features a deep canyon through which the Colorado River flows with limestone bluffs, spring-fed creeks, waterfalls, large oaks, pecans, willows and elms. The uplands above the canyon have typical Hill Country terrain. Possible nesting birds include Golden-cheeked Warbler, Black-capped Vireo, and Zone-tailed Hawk. We will be walking for several miles on trails that are rugged and moderately difficult. The park is about 2 hours from north Austin where we will meet to carpool. Limited to 12 people. Please contact Terry Banks at email@example.com to register. Registration is required.
