EPISODE 96: A Bluebird Kind of Day

What a gorgeous day. Temperatures were just right – a bit cool to start
andwarmed nicely as the day went along. The skies were cloud free and
brightly blue. Where I grew up we called this a Bluebird Day.

Our summer birds continue to show up. We found Green Kingfisher, Green
Heron, Prothonotary Warblers, Dickcissel and Yellow-billed cuckoos.
Absolutely our best bird of the day was American Bittern. We also found a
White-crowned Sparrow and Cedar Waxwing that are still hanging around.
Our species list for the day totaled 57.

In the other critter department we were fortunate to get several Diamond
backed Watersnake and a few types of turtles. We also were greeted by
many species of butterflies including a number of Monarchs.

17 of us took advantage of the beautiful Bluebird Day. Joan Bishop,
Elizabeth Sirico, Peg Gavin, Betsy Hamblen, Brittney Hoch, Tanya Sommer,
Pam Hohmen, Linda Williams, Lee Charlton, Duncan Charlton, Glen Coleman, Ron
Armbruster, Bobby Hughes, Kevin Anderson, John Barr and Kim Praderas.
