Baker Sanctuary Walk

This field trip is free for Travis Audubon members and $10 for non-members. Registration is required.

Date: Sunday, July 13th
Time: 7:00-10:00 am
Location : Baker Sanctuary
Attendance Max: 15

Baker Sanctuary is 715 acres located in northwest Travis County and is part of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. The sanctuary is owned by Travis Audubon and contains prime Golden-cheeked Warbler habitat. Join Celeste Treadway and Chris Gunter for a three hour walk to look for breeding pairs of Golden-cheeked Warblers, other breeding birds and year-round residents. Baker has fairly dense tree and understory cover, therefore we will be employing quite a bit of “ear birding” as well as visual identification.

Many of the trails at Baker Sanctuary have sections that are moderately difficult, with uneven footing and trip hazards. This walk may not be suitable for individuals with mobility challenges; however, the entry areas of Baker can present good “parking lot” birding and also have areas to sit for stationary birding; and some trail sections are less challenging than others for walking. Please email celestetreadway@gmail.com to discuss any mobility challenges or concerns you have and possible accommodations we can make to include you in portions of this walk.

Trip limited to 15 participants. Members: free; Non-members: $10.00.
Loaner binoculars will be available.
