Birding in the spring doesn’t get much better than doing it at a “hot spot” in central Austin like Camp Mabry. On this 375-acre camp, there’s water, big Live Oaks, and snags to attract nesting birds and local residents such as Summer Tanagers, vireos, flycatchers, goldfinches, N. Cardinals, woodpeckers, and Blue Jays.
Bring an ID to get in the gate and be sure to bring water, hat, and insect repellent. Loaner binoculars will be available.
Enter off 35th St. on to Maintenance Dr. Look for Travis Audubon Leaders soon after passing through Entrance Gate for parking instructions.

The Beginners’ Bird Walk is held on the first Saturday of each month and is open to birders of all levels and ages. It’s free. It’s fun. Membership is not required. Registration is not required. Need binoculars? We’ve got loaners. The location is different each month.
