Come out for the Beginners’ Bird Walk at Richard Moya Park in southeastern Travis County. The 92-acre park on Onion Creek was once a pecan grove; and its gentle topography is typical of our Blackland Prairie. The park has a mix of riparian, grasses and large trees so it supports a variety of birds. We usually see a few Eastern Bluebirds at this park. We’ll look for wintering birds that are still hanging around, early spring migrants, as well as some summer residents that have returned to central Texas.

The park has a wide concrete path that is mostly flat, so should be easy to navigate for all.

The Beginners’ Bird Walk is held on the first Saturday of each month and is open to birders of all levels and ages. It’s free. It’s fun. Memberships is not required. Need binoculars? We’ve got loaners. The location is different each month.
