Bird Behavior Walk at Commons Ford (FULL)

Note: This trip is full, but you can join the waitlist using the registration link below.

7:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Summer in Austin is a great time to watch birds. Our breeding birds are busy raising their young so this provides opportunities to observe interesting plumages (some young birds look very different from their parents) and interesting behavior. Join Shelia Hargis for a field trip focusing on the behavior of birds that breed at Commons Ford such as Eastern Bluebirds, Summer Tanagers, Blue Grosbeaks, Painted Buntings and Dickcissels. We’ll walk slow as we identify and discuss bird behavior, discuss the natural history of some of the species we encounter, practice our ID skills of immature birds, and practice our birding-by-ear skills.

The trip is limited to 12 participants and reservations are required. More details will be provided a few days before the field trip. For questions, contact Shelia at shelia.hargis@gmail.com.
