Birdathon: Camp Mabry (FULL)

Saturday, April 6, 8:00 AM –  10:30 AM
$35 per person, max. 12 people

This event is full with a waitlist.

Join Dennis Palafox for a Birdathon field trip to Camp Mabry, the headquarters for the Texas Military Forces in west-central Austin. It is representative of the urban-wildland interface of west Austin with a mix of maintained areas, oak-juniper woods, and a wet-weather creek connecting two ponds. The habitat diversity and setting provide for often productive birding and general natural diversity. We’ll be looking for late spring migrants heading northward, migrating birds that will stay in the area to nest, and year-round resident species.

This trip will be lightly strenuous walking paved and unpaved roads, grassy fields and trails. All birding levels are welcome. Please wear comfortable shoes, and bring water and snacks. There is a restroom on-site.
