RESCHEDULED: Birdathon: Warblers at Baker

Join Cindy Sperry and Celeste Treadway for an insider’s tour of the world’s first preserve dedicated to protecting the nesting habitat of the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler. All levels of birders and outdoor enthusiasts are welcome. Cindy and Celeste each have extensive experience surveying Golden-cheeked Warblers at Baker and other locations. You will be in good hands. The chances are great for up close viewing of Golden-cheeked Warblers as they begin nesting.

Baker is one of Travis Audubon’s three sanctuaries and a part of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve system. The sanctuary consists of over 700 acres of oak-juniper forested land and includes 10 miles of hiking trails. We’ll be covering a couple of miles of trails, most of which is flat and easily walked but there will be sections of rocky, uneven terrain and some changes in elevation. Hiking difficulty is moderate. The preserve is located at 12308 Lime Creek Road, Leander, Texas. Detailed directions to the parking and meet up area will be sent to participants before the event.

This team will bird on Sunday, April 20, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The fee to register for this team is $50, but if you wish you are welcome to provide an additional donation! This team is limited to 20 participants.
