Birding at Jacob’s Well

Join us for a delightful bird walk at Jacob’s Well Natural Area in Wimberley, Texas! This stunning location features a unique habitat surrounding the iconic artesian spring, which feeds Cypress Creek and supports a diverse range of bird species. As we explore the lush landscapes and serene waters, keep an eye out for various birds, including sparrows, native woodland birds, and the chance migrant that visit. Multiple ecosystems are represented at this park, including mixed Oak/Juniper forest, Savannah/Prairie areas, as well as an Aquatic/Riparian zone.

Parking: Both admission and parking are free. Ample parking is available at the Jacob’s Well Natural Area parking lot.

Amenities: Restrooms are accessible on-site, and picnic areas are available for those who wish to enjoy a meal before or after the walk. Birding station, labyrinth, loose parts play area, geocaching, Nature Center Exhibits open to the public Sat. & Sun. 10am-3pm.

Accessibility: A few trails are composed of crushed granite and are considered accessible. The trail down to Jacob’s Well requires visitors to hike down several staircases and along natural surfaces. That portion of the trail is not accessible to wheelchairs, strollers, or other mobility aids. Registration for this event is free, but we suggest a donation of $10 to assist with furthering our efforts of inspiring conservation through birding. This event is limited to 15 registrants.
