Birds of Lake Pflugerville with Sebastian Casarez

Sebastian will be leading a presentation on the birds found at Lake Pflugerville.

Sebastian Casarez, 15 years old, is a passionate, avid, self-taught young Texas birder and bird conservationist. In 2015, Sebastian became the first child at the age of 12 to be awarded a Children in Nature Collaborative of Austin Award (CINCA). Since the age of nine, Sebastian has presented several bird presentations throughout Texas at festivals, libraries, schools, TPWD State Parks, local city parks, Nature Conservancy Davis Mountains Preserve (2016), and several community events. In 2018, Sebastian was recognized as the first young “Avian Advocate” by Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center WILDFLOWER Magazine. In 2017, Sebastian started a birding project called The Texas Blue Jay Project, where he travels throughout Texas encouraging Texans to explore birdwatching in their backyards, city and state parks.

Birding activities before the presentation (starting at 6:30 pm) consist of:

This is a free family event. All ages welcomed!
