8:30 AM – 10:30 AM

NOTE: Registration for this walk is currently full with a waitlist. This event was previously on Dec. 18 but postponed due to weather.

This large, historic cemetery is the final resting place of many of Austins interesting citizens including the founder of Travis Audubon, Magnolia Greene. The mature trees and prairie area support over 130 species (and counting) of migrating and local birds. This trip will be co-led by Jennifer Bristol, author of Parking Lot Birding; Travis Audubon Master Birder Mary Ann Robalino; and Caitlen Hill, the Cemetery Programs Manager with Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Paved roads throughout the cemetery make this cemetery accessible for those with mobility challenges.

Please arrive a few minutes before the scheduled start time of 8:30. Meet at the parking area just inside the stone gate entrance. A portable restroom is located near the meeting place. Bring binoculars, wear closed-toed shoes, and clothing layers appropriate for the weather. Bring water and snacks if desired. Walk will proceed in the event of drizzle or very light rain, but will be canceled for lightning or heavy rain.

This walk is FREE, but registration is required and limited to 16 participants.
