Cemetery Birding: Oakwood Cemetery

8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Join Travis Audubon and Austin Parks and Recreation Department for a Birding in Cemeteries” walk. This walk will be a mix of birding and history. Discover why cemeteries are awesome places to find birds, while also taking in some of Austins history and learning about the earliest citizens interred in our citys oldest cemetery. Soaring hawks, raucous jays and crows, adorable wrens, and colorful migrating warblers are likely to be found among the graves, mature trees, shrubs and grassy areas of this 40-acre green space in the heart of Austin. The walk will be co-led by Travis Audubon Field trip leader Laura Tull, and Ryan Dees, with Austin PARD Cemetery Programs. All birding levels are welcome!

Park along the street in front of the historic Oakwood Chapel, just inside the main gate at 1601 Navasota Street.
