Enchanted Rock State Park Field Trip Led by Terry Banks

7:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Join us to bird this lovely, 1,644 acre natural area characterized by typical Hill Country Vegetation and dominated by “a massive granite dome in the middle of the Texas Hill Country.” Enchanted Rock is popular with rock climbers and all sorts of nature enthusiasts, but is especially great for birders. Find such western species as Canyon Wren and Towhee, Black-throated and Rufous-crowned Sparrows, Verdins, and a host of overwintering sparrows during this time of year.

Since this is a very popular park that closes after a certain number of visitors show up, we will leave Austin about 6 am to arrive at the park about 7:30. Plan to do a good bit of walking over terrain that can be moderately difficult. We will probably bird until 12:00 and then may either have a picnic in the park or have lunch in nearby Fredericksburg. Registration is required. Limit 12 people. Registrants will be sent a logistics email prior to the day of the event.

You may email Terry Banks @ 55bluebirds@att.net for questions about this trip.
