FIELD TRIP: Two hour Tuesday at Mills Pond Park with Dan Callaway

7:30 AM – 9:30 AM

The Mills Branch Park includes a lovely pond that is surrounded by a wooded walking trail in the middle of the Lakes at Wells Branch subdivision in northeast Austin. As a greenspace with water in the midst of urban development, it is attractive to wildlife. Birds are present year-round with waterfowl species prominent in the fall and winter. Neo-tropical migrants pass through in April and May on their way north and in September on their way south.

Directions to this park will vary depending on where you are coming from. There is a short unnamed street off of Wells Port Drive (between Waterway Bend and Rick Whinery Drive) that ends at a circular parking area within the park with 15 spaces. The address on the sign for the park is 15108 Wells Port Drive. There is street parking available on Wells Port Drive if the designated parking area is full. Please look at the google map link below to locate this parking area, and then use google maps to determine the best route for you to use to the park.
