Virtual Class: Spanish for Birders

Date & Time: Monday, August 17, 2020, 7-9 pm, via Zoom Web Conferecing
Instructor: Dr. Christy Esmahan
Registration Fee: $35 for members, $45 for non-members

Have you considered travelling to Latin America or Spain to bird and worried that you would not have the Spanish vocabulary to engage a local guide? Or perhaps you are interested in engaging Latino birders in your part of town? Maybe you took Spanish way back in high school, or maybe you didn’t. Either way, this Spanish for Birders class is for you. Dr. Esmahan has lived in both Central America and Spain for over 15 years and before retiring, she was an educator. Birds are her passion and she is delighted to teach this Spanish for Birders introductory course which will include a very brief overview of Spanish pronunciation before diving into the words for bird anatomy, common phrases used in birding and the names of bird groups. Students will be able to download the slides in advance so that they may take notes in class.

Registrants should have Zoom installed on their device before the start of the first session. Registrants will receive instructions for accessing the meeting via email the morning of August 17. If you do not receive an email in your inbox, please check your spam/junk folders. Please direct any questions about registration to caley@travisaudubon.org.
