8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
This 45-acre regional park north of Austin in Leander is a great place to see wintering birds, especially ducks and shore birds. The entrance is located at 1807 Waterfall Drive. Once you enter the park, drive all the way to the back and park by the picnic area, within view of the lake.
If you have a scope, please bring it.
The walking is on mostly level ground, though we will be walking through grass, so hiking boots would be good.
The weather will likely be cold, so dress appropriately, remembering a hat and hand-warmers that you can slip inside your gloves.
All birding levels welcome. If you haven’t yet downloaded the free Merlin Bird ID app by Cornell Lab on your phone, it’s a good idea to do so before this walk.
Registration is required, and further details will be provided to registrants prior to the date of the trip. Limited to 12 registrants. Please contact Christy Esmahan at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
