7:30 AM – 9:30 AM
Located off the northbound 620/45 feeder, the address is 9504 Braes Valley St. We’ll meet in the parking lot at the end of the street, by the trailhead. The walk is along the paved 1.5-mile Lake Creek Trail that travels through a birdy greenbelt beside a shallow river, then over along some soccer and baseball fields. During the past few years over 250 bird species have been identified along this trail and in the surrounding neighborhood. Target birds include our resident birds and some migrants that may be passing through in September, and possibly a mixture of late-staying summer birds and/or early arriving winter birds. It will be a surprise!
The weather will probably still be warm, so dress appropriately. Wear comfortable shoes.
There are no restrooms on the first part of the trail, though there is a Portapotty in the vicinity of the ball fields.
All birding levels welcome. If you haven’t yet downloaded the free Merlin Bird ID app by Cornell Lab on your phone, it’s a good idea to do so before this walk.
Registration is required, and further details will be provided to registrants prior to the date of the trip. Limited to 12 registrants. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
