7:30 AM – 9:30 AM
Located in northeast Austin, just across from the southern end of Walnut Creek Greenbelt, Pioneer Farms is a historical park. We will be birding there by special permission, before the park opens to the public. The park consists of 90 acres with a mixture of habitats, including wooded, riparian and grasslands. The site has not been birded extensively and we are hoping to see typical Austin area birds for the season, including wintering sparrows.
We will walk slowly for about 2 hours. Some of the paths are gravel, while others are grassy, and we’ll cover between 2 and 3 miles walking. Hiking boots and long pants are recommended, as well as protection from the weather. You should also bring water. There are restrooms on site.
Registration is required, and further details will be provided to registrants prior to the date of the trip. Limited to 12 registrants. Please contact Christy Esmahan at firstname.lastname@example.org for questions.
