Wild Weekday Woodlands Park and River Place Trail, Led by Christy Esmahan & Celeste Treadway

7:30 AM – 9:30 AM

Located off Ranch Road 2222, at 8820 Big View Drive in River Place, Woodlands Park is 9.7 acres. There are large, old pecan trees that are wonderful for the birds, and the trail winds past a slow part of the Colorado river and into a more wooded area. So far, 151 species of birds have been observed on the property, including, earlier in the year, a Red-breasted Nuthatch. Target birds include Summer Tanager, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Painted Bunting, Northern Parula, Ash-throated Flycatcher and Golden-fronted Woodpecker.

After walking the trails of Woodlands Park, we will head up the hill across the street to see what other species we might pick up. Altogether, we will have a two-hour, slow-paced walk over paved trails, granite trails and mulched trails. Tennis shoes will probably be fine, but if the weather has been very wet, you might want to wear hiking boots.

Registration is required, and further details will be provided to registrants prior to the date of the trip. Limited to 12 registrants. Please contact Christy Esmahan c.esmahan@gmail.com if you have any questions.
