World Migratory Bird Day

Hosted by Travis Audubon and Austin Water, with support from a grant from National Audubon

Join us in celebrating World Migratory Bird Day at the premier birding location in Travis County, Hornsby Bend! Whether you’re a seasoned birder, a beginner, or looking for a family-friendly outing, this day offers something for everyone. Come connect with fellow birding enthusiasts, enjoy some amazing birdwatching opportunities, and learn about the fascinating migratory birds passing through our region.

This event is free for everyone.

Tentative Schedule:
Morning Bird Survey: 7 AM – 11:30 AM
Beginners’ Bird Walk: 9 AM – 10:30 AM
Social Hour: 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Purple Martin Demonstration: 11:30AM
Raptor Show at 12:30PM
Afternoon Bird Walk:  1 PM – 2 PM

Intermediate-to-highly skilled birders are encouraged to assist with the morning and afternoon surveys, while birders of all skill levels are welcome to join the guided beginners’ bird walk. There will be complimentary refreshments, socializing, interactive activities for adults and children, story time, a raptor show and more during the social hour.

Note: When you arrive at Hornsby Bend, be prepared to show your ID at the gate. The event will take place at the Center Environmental Research, the building to the right as you pass through the gate. Plenty of free parking is available.
