9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Join Sanctuary Docents Vanessa Hague and Hilary Brown for journey into a geological Time Machine! Take a walk down into Chaetura Canyon to see where plants and animals live today and did millions of years ago.
This event is limited to 6 children 8 through 12 years of age and is scheduled for September 16th, 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Each child must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Feel free to bring breakfast bars or snacks. Water and soft drinks will be provided. We will begin with a short orientation, and then begin the adventure.
Trails are well-developed, but the main lower trail is moderately strenuous with many steps going down, then up back up again.
Sturdy shoes or boots are required (no sandals, flip-flops or flats!). A walking stick, binoculars and a water bottle are recommended. Walking sticks and binoculars are available for loan. Cameras are also welcome, but we do ask that you put your cell phones on “vibrate” while on the trails.
This event is free to TAS members and their guests, but a minimum donation of $10 per person to Travis Audubon for Chaetura Canyon is encouraged. Note cards, t-shirts, limited edition prints and TAS merchandise will be available for purchase. All donations and purchases benefit the maintenance of and projects at Chaetura Canyon.
Further details will be emailed to registrants prior to the event. For questions, please contact the Stewards, Paul and Georgean Kyle: kyle@ChimneySwifts.org
