April 1 – May 8, 2022

Birdathon is Travis Audubon’s most entertaining way to engage in our mission to protect native birds! Teams of birders compete to see as many birds during one trip as possible. All registration fees and team donations benefit Travis Audubon. All skill levels are welcome to start a team, join an existing one, or compete as an individual.

Birdathon 2022 is a great opportunity to enjoy spring migration while fundraising for Travis Audubon.

All teams should follow these guidelines:

  • Teams should not bird outside of Texas.
  • Teams should bird within the limits of half days (up to 6 hours) or full days (6-24 hours). Your team must select a half or full day when you register your team.
  • Birding days should occur during Birdathon dates (April 1 – May 8) and a post-birding day form must be completed to be considered for competition.
  • The registration fee to compete is a minimum $25 donation to Travis Audubon – we will send you the link to donate once you have completed your team registration form.
  • You are welcome to bird on a “dispersed flock” team, in which team members bird separately (can be both location- and time-wise). However, dispersed flock teams are not eligible for “Most bird species seen/heard,” “Reveling in Raptors,” or “Copious Cardinals” competition categories. Dispersed flocks should continue to follow the other team guidelines listed above.

2021 Team Competition Categories:

  • Coolest Mask (submit a picture of you donning your most festive face cover out in the field)
