Exceptional Sighting:
- A Western Gull was photographed on Lake Austin near the Tom Miller Dam on 7/7. This is completely unprecedented in the Austin Area checklist circle.
Rarities Found This Week:
- A Long-billed Curlew was on Lake Travis, seen at Bob Wentz and Mansfield Dam Park on 7/8 in Travis County.
- A Roseate Spoonbill was seen on Lake Austin on 7/8 during an attempt to relocate the Western Gull.
Continuing From Previous Week:
- A Buff-bellied Hummingbird continued at a Bastrop County home as of 7/9.
- An Osprey remains at Lake Travis, seen from Bob Wentz 7/9.
Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered from the Capitol in downtown Austin. Bird sightings mentioned here have been filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine.
