Blair Woods Restoration Day, April 20

By: Michael Jewell, Travis Audubon Master Birder

It was a beautiful Saturday morning with many hands helping on multiple projects. I think we may have had over twenty people participating. Chris Murray and his son, Connor, gathered the team at 9:00 am and explained the various projects for the morning. As we were dividing up, a group of around ten folks from the Longhorn Stream Team showed up to help. Most of the other volunteers were either from Travis Audubon, Capital Area Master Naturalists, or searched out this volunteer opportunity elsewhere.

Weeds were whacked, Ligustrum was leveled, mulch was moved, the new rain barrel was hauled up the hill, and much more was accomplished while meeting new people and enjoying the day at this ever transforming sanctuary.

Saturday, June 15th is the next scheduled Restoration Day at Blair Woods. Y’all come!
