Comments: EPISODE 102: A Chilly Dia De Los Muertos
This morning started with temperatures just 10 degrees above freezing. While some of us are a bit reluctant to give up our warmers attire, it was interesting to see people dressed in warmer clothes. Yes, even bundled against the very chilly wind.
It was also the first day of duck season and we found several groups trying their luck. We saw very few ducks flying around but all the hunters assured us they had a good day. I know fishermen who assure me of their successes too.
Our list of 48 species Included Wild Turkey, two adult Bald Eagles, and some first of season migrants. Yellow-rumped Warblers, Northern Flicker, Vesper Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Lincoln Sparrow, Common Yellow-throat are a few of the seasonal birds we found. We missed another Kingfisher Trifecta by one species. The Green Kingfisher eluded us but the Ringed put on a great display and everyone got good looks.
In the other critter department there were plenty of butterflies an damsel files as well as turtles and we even got a white-tailed Deer.
Linda Williams, Pam Hohman, Wilda Campbell, Peg Gavin, Sharon Richardson, Joan Bishop, Debbie Sharp, Bobby Hughes, Jeff Richardson, Stuart Bailey, Steve Mackey, Ron Armbruster, Bobby Hughes, John Barr, Bob West, and Denis Breining for the company today joined us for the Dia de los Muertos. It was great fun.
