In late April, Boy Scout Chris Zimmerman, with help and support from Troop 202 and his family, spent the day installing two new wooden benches in the upper Baker Spring Trail. Planning for the Eagle Scout project began last year when Chris proposed the idea and began to look for potential locations to place the benches. After several trips to Baker, he settled on two locations where there was a good amount of shade and ample room for the benches. The next step was to manufacture the benches at home so on the work day they could be installed quickly and with a minimal amount of disturbance. On the day of the installation, all went according to plan and not even the presence of large, subsurface limestone could slow the troop down. Many thanks to Chris Zimmerman, his family, and Troop 202 for a job well done!
