The Field Trip Committee is pleased to announce a new series of field trips that are focused on Texas State Parks. We’d like to show Travis Audubon’s support of our state parks and introduce some of you to parks that aren’t as well known. Do you know that there are about 20 state parks within a 2-hour drive of Austin? Generally, for parks closer to Austin, the morning trips will conclude by noon, and for those further away, trips will conclude about mid-afternoon. In order to accommodate birders who work a Monday-Friday week, field trips will be held on a Saturday, or occasionally on a Sunday. Some field trip leaders may decide they would like to lead a trip further away and the group will spend a night near the park. We’re planning to offer one field trip a month to a state park, beginning in October.
If you are interested in volunteering to lead one of these state parks birding trips, please contact either Jean Martin (email email@example.com) or Terry Banks (email firstname.lastname@example.org). Check the October field trip calendar for our first state parks field trip.
