The Blair Woods after school program was thrilled last week to welcome Dr. Dean Keddy-Hector and his peregrine falcon Buttercup! Students learned all about different birds of prey, and they got to see this beautiful and formative raptor up close and personal. Buttercup was happy to oblige the students a glimpse at her predatory acumen by consuming a small quail during the program (it had been previously frozen). She made short work of her lunch, and it was an experience the children are unlikely to forget. It was truly a treat and by the end of the program all the students were looking up to the skies in search of other birds of prey.
