Beginners’ Bird Walk: Onion Creek Greenbelt

8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
This field trip is free for everyone, but registration is required.

Onion Creek Greenbelt is a 250 acre park surrounded by the 517 acre Onion Creek Metro Park in southeast Austin. The Metro Park includes areas that used to be a residential neighborhood that were converted to a park after numerous flood events. Onion Creek runs through the park and has a variety of mostly flat trails. We’ll explore some of the park and the greenbelt looking for several woodpecker species, and woodland raptors, like Coopers and Red-shouldered Hawks. We’ll also look for winter warblers like Pine, Yellow-rumped, and Orange-crowned, as well as other winter visitors.
