Photo Guidelines
Do you enjoy birding through a camera lens as much as through binoculars? Show off your birding finesse AND your photography skills while supporting Travis Audubon!
Next Birdathon, submit your photos to our Greg Lasley Photography Contest, which honors our late friend and legendary wildlife photographer. First place in this contest will receive the Greg Lasley Award for Photographic Excellence. Since this is a fundraiser, entry into the contest is $25 for up to 5 photos, or $50 for up to 10 photos.
Photos should:
– contain birds (and no people!)
– be taken during Birdathon (generally April through mid-May)
– be taken in Texas
– be submitted by the photographer (or guardian if the photographer is a minor)
– be at least 1MB in size and ideally 300 DPI
Each photo should include an ID down to species level (common names are fine).
Photos do not need to be taken during an official Birdathon excursion. If you have a great photo op while drinking coffee on your back porch, then that’s great!
What’s in it for the winners?
The top five photos will be featured on Travis Audubon’s social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) with photographer recognition. The first place photo winner who receives the Greg Lasley Award for Photographic Excellence will have their photo included on the front page of our Annual Report. Additionally, photographers can opt in to having their photos featured in a series of calendars created by Custom4Good as a fundraiser for Travis Audubon. Photos don’t need to win this contest for a chance to be featured in a calendar!
Note: Photographers can only place once each year. So, the top five photos will be from five different photographers.
