Every year, more than 1 billion birds are killed by colliding with windows.
To learn more, please watch this video How to Help Birds Avoid Windows from Texas Parks and Wildlife.
This weekend on March 1st, we also have a workshop where you can learn various methods that you can implement at home to limit these collisions.
There are also a few spots still available in this weekend’s workshop:
BIRD-413: Preventing Window Collision Workshop on March 1st. This hands-on workshop, led by Dr. Steven Fletcher, teaches homeowners how to create and apply affordable window treatments to protect migratory birds from collisions. Participants will learn about bird behavior and effective techniques using materials like tempura paint, paracord, and vinyl tape, while gaining practical experience in reducing window hazards for birds.

The window decals are used to break up the reflections birds see to prevent window collisions. Audubon’s Lights Out program works with building owners and managers to turn off excess lighting, as well as adopt window decals and coverings, to help provide safe passage for birds between their nesting and wintering grounds.
