Bird-Friendly Design in Austin: Updates from the Watershed Protection Department

The City of Austin’s Watershed Protection Department has been actively working on a response to City Council Resolution 20241121-073, which focuses on promoting Bird-Friendly Design. As part of this effort, the Policy team recently hosted a webinar covering the basics of bird-friendly architecture and what steps Austin could take to reduce bird collisions with buildings.

Design Commission Presentation

Leslie Lilly and the Watershed Protection Department’s Policy team interns will present to the Design Commission on what bird-friendly design can look like, the technical aspects of various solutions, and examples of regulations from other cities. This meeting will be broadcast live on ATXN, and a recording will be posted to the Commission’s website afterward.
