What a gorgeous day! Below zero last week and 80°+ this day!
Eight of us met and picked up 23 good birds, including Ring-necked duck, Lesser Scaup, and Red-shouldered Hawk. The two Snowy Egret and three Great Egret were the squawking show stoppers, dressed in breeding finery and flying wildly at, with and around each other all the while! We concluded these were the early breeders. At the end in the parking lot, a falcon flew by, but try as we might, we could not identify it! Rats!
Very lovely day. The bumper sticker of the outing:
Guys, a Grebe’s gotta’ eat! ?
Happy March birding!
