Travis Audubon Welcomes Abeera Amer as Advocacy Intern

Travis Audubon welcomes Abeera Amer as our Advocacy Intern!

Abeera is an undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Austin, where she studies Health & Society and is a member of the Plan II Honors Program and is currently in her junior year. Her academic interests center on the intersections of public policy, community wellbeing, and environmental advocacy. She has experience in research and community-based work, including clinical research and patient-facing work at the Heartbeat Clinic and Lyla Lobdell Center of Wellness, where she has contributed to research initiatives and supported patient interviews and biofeedback sessions.

Through her advocacy internship with Travis Audubon, Abeera is excited to deepen her understanding of conservation, environmental policy, and the role of community engagement in protecting local ecosystems. She is particularly interested in exploring how advocacy, education, and public policy can support environmental stewardship. Outside of her academic and internship work, she enjoys writing, art, and exploring the connections between people, culture, and the natural world.

She is a beginner birder who has always had a keen interest in bird life and the conservation efforts required to aid their survival.

Abeera will be working with Travis Audubon in this role through Spring 2027. We are excited to see what she accomplishes with us!
