Travis Audubon is pleased to announce our new Blair Woods Land Manager, CJ Williams!
CJ is a passionate conservationist, specializing in vegetation management and native plant-focused ecological restoration. They are an ISA Certified Arborist and a member of the Capital Area Master Naturalists chapter. They began their natural resources career with native horticulture internships at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens at Lawai in Hawaii and Save the Bay in San Francisco, CA. Upon moving to Austin in 2020, they joined the Texas Conservation Corps (TxCC) where they learned to manage Austin’s urban forest and preserves through arboriculture, wildfire mitigation, trail construction, erosion control, invasive species treatment, and degraded land restoration. They worked at TxCC for two and a half years as an AmeriCorps member, including a year-long internship at Big Thicket National Preserve facilitating interpretive kayak trips, and another two and a half years as a project coordinator managing TxCC crews.
They are a beginner birder who especially enjoys birding by ear and is excited to tag along on bird surveys and field trips to learn more!
