Recently, Travis Audubon staff received a heartwarming email from Lindsay Lawley-Rerecich, mother of our volunteer Lily Rerecich. She wanted to share how Lily’s senior year of high school was being inspired by the Golden-cheeked Warbler. Read Lindsay’s message below:
I thought you would all be pleased to know about a few warbler-inspired takes Lily has on senior year school traditions so far. First, there was her senior speech. Every senior at the Ann Richards school gives a speech during the year, some to the whole school and some to smaller grade-level assemblies. Lily was only the second senior of the year to give her speech, and it was (of course) a whole-school version. She took the chance to talk to about 900 people about her experiences surveying Golden-cheeked warblers, and you can see it here: Lily’s Senior Speech.
Then, a week ago, she got to paint her senior parking spot. She did it free-hand based on an art project she’d done a few years ago and a Travis Audubon slogan she has from an old card:

Thank you, as always, for all you have done and still do to help fuel Lily’s passion for birds.
P.S. Here is how we decorated Lily’s car for the first day of school:
