BALD EAGLEs continue to be described and photographed from the Lake Buchanan area, with a pair of adult eagles seen perched in willows near the Sore Finger section of the lake, Williamson, 8/25. A additional adult photographed from the Willis Creek Wildlife Area, Williamson, 8/29.
HARRIS’S HAWK was photographed along Grand Avenue Parkway, Williamson, 8/22. And another reported and photographed from a private residence, Williamson, 8/30.
A family group of RED-HEADED WOODPECKERs continue to be observed from Bastrop State Park, Bastrop, 8/31.
A family group of BLACK PHOEBEs continue at Hamilton Pool, Travis, 9/3.
Several reports of lingering BLACK-CAPPED VIREOs in the circle. One vireo was photographed and continued at Warbler Woods, Guadalupe, 8/30. Another vireo from a private residence along the west side of Austin, Travis, 8/29. And as many as three birds described from a closed section of Balcones Canyonlands, Travis, 9/3.
A pair of TUFTED TITMOUSE continue from CR428 and CR361, Williamson, 8/23.
A female type PRAIRIE WARBLER was photographed near the bird blind at Commons Ford Park, Travis, 8/22.
A BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER was photographed visiting a water feature at a private residence near the Barton Creek Habitat Preserve area, Travis, 8/29-31.
A CANADA WARLBER was photographed bathing at a water feature from a private residence, Gonzales, 8/24.
A female SCARLET TANAGER was described from Hornsby Bend, Travis, 8/30.
WESTERN TANAGER was photographed visiting a water feature at a private residence, Gonzales, 8/30.
A female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was photographed visiting a feeder at a private residence, Bastrop, 8/31.
A pair of BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKs continue to be detailed and photographed from a private residence, Burnet, 8/27. And an additional young male grosbeak was photographed at a private residence, Gonzales, 9/1.
Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60-mile radius, centered on the Capitol in downtown Austin. An adult light morph POMARINE JAEGER was photographed and observed by many at Granger Lake, Williamson, 9/1. The jaeger was seen patrolling the lake, with several visits to the dam which provided good looks from the overlook pullout. Last reported on 9/2. Updates appreciated!
