EPISODE 112: A Welcomed Shower
Rain showers usually build during the day then rain in the afternoon and evening. We are off the river before the showers begins. Very rarely are we out on the river and get a rain shower come over us. For whatever odd reason we had a shower today, and it was in the early part of the trip.
Our bird list is short and very typical. We did manage a pair of raptors that is still being disputed. Some think migrating Mississippi Kites and some think Falcon. I have listed them as Mississippi Kites. We also had a good number of Pileated Woodpeckers. There were also bright yellow birds we saw at a distance but could never get an accurate ID. I think they were Yellow Warblers but did not list them.
Our bird list came to 41 species.
In the other critter department butterflies were plentiful. Viceroy, Giant Swallowtail, Tiger swallowtail, and Sulfur, were some of the more showy
We all had great looks at a Cottonmouth before it found refuge under a shelf of rock.
Enjoying the rain and critters today were Caroline Taylor, Tam Tran, Kim Parades, Glen Coleman, John Barr, Stuart Bailey, and CR Smith. Thanks for helping make it another great day on the river.
